Pure water contains only water molecules that interact strongly with each other due to their  , which are

graphically depicted as δ+ and δ− .2. Solutions are formed when a   like a salt or sugar becomes homogeneously distributed in a solvent like water, and this distribution can be viewed in the Micro view.

3. When salts dissolve, they separate into individual   that strongly interact with the water molecules.

4. Binary salts are made up of two elements at varying ratios, where one element is a   charged cation, and the other is a   charged anion.

5. In the Micro view, each shake of the container releases 6 molecules of its respective solute, but 6 molecules of the salt   actually produce more ions in solution than 6 molecules of the salt  .

6. Not all soluble molecules are salts, e.g., a covalent species like   readily dissolves in water without forming ions.

7. The reason they dissolve is because their partially charged atoms are able to associate with the partially charged atoms of water molecules, and these attractive forces occur as long as they are between atoms with   charges.

TOPIC: ***DEPRESSION AMONG AFRICAN AMERICANS (MALE & FEMALE)***

PLEASE READ RUBRIC AND FOLLOW EACH INSTRUCTION WORD FOR WORD

Infographic and paper: Use course readings, assignments, documentaries, lectures, and/or news to submit a 3-page paper and create an infographic on a real-world health issue of your choosing. Paper must be double-spaced, in Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins all around. Include in-text references and a reference page for any materials you cite using APA citation formatting. Midterm paper must be submitted on Canvas prior to class, on its due date (Oct 10th), and the infographic must be shared during class on the midterm due date during a poster session. You can choose to work in pairs or solo on this midterm.  If you work in pairs, you will receive the same grade for the paper and infographic. The health issue you select must be policy driven. Students are required to present about the issue they researched as well as an infographic in class on Oct 10th during a poster session.

The goal of this midterm project is to inform, educate, and empower people about health issues.  This is a core function of policy development and is the 3rd function of the 10 Essential Public Health Services.

  • Writing your Paper:
    • Using the Centers for       Disease Control Policy Analytical Framework as a guide, students must follow key steps and conclude with a       strategy/policy for addressing this issue. https://www.cdc.gov/policy/analysis/process/docs/cdcpolicyanalyticalframework.pdf
    • Include in-text       references and a reference page for any materials you cite using APA       citation formatting.
  • Creating      your Infographic:
    • Students can use https://piktochart.com/ to design       their infographic and have it sent to Staples or another printing company       for printing. I recommend having       it printed as an 18”x24” poster. You can then mount it on foam core/foam board.
    • You can also choose to       use a trifold.
    • Students must translate       issue/problem, data, and policy strategy/call to action, and what the       impact of this policy will be in a concise infographic, and be able to       respond to questions about his/her topic area.

You must answer the following questions in your midterm paper!

Policy Framework – Answer the following questions in your paper)

1. Identify problem or issue (be specific)

a. Create a problem statement (frame the problem in a way that lends itself to potential policy solutions)

b. Synthesize data on the characteristics of problem or issue

i. burden of people affected (how many people it affects)

ii. frequency (how often)

iii. severity (how serious the problem is)

iv. scope (the range of outcomes it affects) * (does it cause or contribute to cancer, stroke, heart attacks, obesity, etc.)

v. identify the economic impact

vi. identify any gaps in data

2. Identify and describe appropriate policy solutions

a. Assess policy options

i. Research possible policy options and include at least two of them in your paper. If only one policy option exists, include it and state that there are not any additional policy options. If no policy options currently exist, state this and make policy recommendations. If policy options exist, but are not included, students will have points deducted.

ii. Review literature on topic and cite, survey best practices, and do an environmental scan to understand what others are doing. In other words, find out what programs, policies, regulations, and/or laws exist to address this issue, describe what is being done and by whom.

iii. How have these options impacted morbidity and mortality?

iv. What is the cost to implement these policies?

b. Prioritize policy option(s)

i. Identify the policy you have selected to address your issue and state why. (Was it more financially feasible?  Did it have the highest impact on morbidity and mortality?) While you may include more than one policy option or strategy to address this issue, I encourage you to select one if possible.

3. Develop a strategy for adoption of a policy solution

a. Identify your strategy for getting the policy adopted and how the policy will operate

i. Identify key stakeholders and your strategy for engaging them (stakeholders can be companies, organizations, schools, non-profits, students, parents, etc.)

ii. Describe how the policy will operate and what was is needed for policy enactment (financial resources, stakeholders, incentives, standing order from a physician, etc.)

iii. Describe what you believe the short-term and long-term impacts of this policy will be.

You must include the following in your infographic!

Students must translate issue/problem, data, and policy strategy/call to action in a concise infographic, and be able to respond to questions about his/her topic area.

1. The problem – Create a title that catches the eyes of your audience.

2. Data to explain the problem – Use the most relevant and eye-opening data points.

3. Policy/strategy/call to action – What do you want us to do? Or How can this issue be addressed?

4. Impact – Describe the impact of your enacted policy.

Grading Rubric: Your paper will be worth 75% of your grade. The infographic will be worth 25% of your grade.

Introduction: How well did the student(s) describe the   problem and synthesize data? Did s/he:

· identify the burden of people affected (how   many people it affects)

· describe the frequency (how often)

· address the severity (how serious the problem   is)

· describe the scope (the range of outcomes it   affects) * (does it cause or contribute to cancer, stroke, heart attacks,   obesity, etc.)

If no   policy options currently exist, state this and make policy recommendations. *If policy options exist, but are not   included, students will have points deducted.

· Review literature on topic and cite, survey   best practices, and do an environmental scan to understand what others are   doing. In other words, review   recommendations from CDC, NIH, SAMHSA, journal articles, and/or relevant   entities to understand policy recommendations for your issue. Find out what programs, policies,   regulations, and/or laws exist to address this issue, describe what is being   done and by whom.

Due to the passage of the Affordable Care Act, your organization was required to change insurance companies to meet the guidelines and expectations within the ACA. Salaries increased in FY 2017 due to hiring new personnel. Utilizing the attached balance sheet, create a memo to the Board of Directors regarding the budget proposal for next fiscal year.

  • Using the provided balance sheet, identify three areas of budgetary concern.
  • Create a memo that identifies the three major areas of concern over the past year. For each of the three areas of concern:
    • Use the memo template in Microsoft Word (or another template) to format the memo.
    • Summarize the current status in 75 words or less.
    • Recommend one possible solution for improvement or sustainability for the Board to consider when voting to approve next year’s budget.
