Performing a Quantitative Analysis
Overview
In Unit 5 you identified an applied business research project and wrote up several of the elements that go into creating a Milestone 2 Research Proposal, including your choice for the statistical analysis technique. You used the four-box inferential statistical technique of the Decision Matrix for Inferential Statistics Selection to determine which technique family your statistical analysis technique will come from (Box 1, 2, 3, or 4). For that assignment, you assumed that the technique you will use is the technique corresponding to the box you chose in the Decision Matrix Sample Statistics Choice.
For this assignment, you will use the same statistical analysis technique that you chose for the Unit 5 assignment to perform a data analysis on data from the Andy Field textbook.
Data Choice
If you chose Multiple Regression:

• Find the dataset Child Aggression.sav file in your Discovering Statistics companion website datasets that you downloaded in Unit 1, and upload the file into SPSS.
• Complete the regression for Task 5 in your Field textbook, pages 322–323. Assume the role of a researcher tasked with determining the relationships among variables Use Parenting_Style and Sibling_Aggression as the independent (predictor) variables and Child_Aggression as the dependent variable.

If you chose ANOVA:

• For this assignment, you will complete the five steps below for Task 5 in your Field textbook, page 422, using the Tumour.sav file. Assume the role of a researcher tasked with determining whether tumors increased with greater daily cell phone use when you complete the following five steps. Conduct a one-way ANOVA.

If you chose Spearman’s Rho:

• Use Field’s Section 8.4.3 to find the example to use for Spearman’s correlation coefficient. Assume the role of a researcher who wanted to test a theory that more creative people will be able to create taller tales. Use the data in the file The Biggest Liar.sav and conduct a Spearman’s correlation as described in Section 8.4.3.

If you chose Mann-Whitney:

• For this assignment, you will complete the five steps below for Task 5 in your Field textbook, page 248, using the Oxoby (2008) Offers.sav file. Assume the role of a researcher tasked with figuring out whether the number of offers was significantly different for people listening to Bon Scott versus Brian Johnson, and conduct a Mann-Whitney analysis.

 
 
Instructions
Read the material listed below corresponding to the statistical analysis technique you chose in Unit 5 and then perform that technique on the data indicated.
Regardless of which technique you chose, you will perform these steps to complete this assignment:

1. Dataset. Find the correct dataset.
2. Questions and Hypotheses. Identify the research questions, the appropriate variables to answer them, and state the null and alternate hypothesis appropriate to the problem.
3. Assumptions. Identify the assumptions that must be tested to determine if you can use your chosen technique and then test them.
4. Results. Run the test and state the results.
5. Conclusions and Limitations. Explain your conclusions and limitations.
6. Report.
   1. Present the results of steps 1 through 5 above in an APA-formatted report that patterns your analysis on the steps Andy Field used in the appropriate chapter.
   2. Use section headings that match the labels on Steps 1 through 5.
   3.  Use subsection headings for each major substep or test.
   4. Make sure you include a cover page with the appropriate information, including your name.
   5.  Review the assignment scoring guide to ensure that you meet all criteria.
   6. Save your report as YourLastName_U6.docx and submit it along with data output file as YourLastName_U6.spv to the Unit 6 Assignment.
